Nativity 2011

It is a little late, but here is a picture of young P at her Nativity Play last year.  Our little Angel!

Site has moved server

I have moved server and not everything has come across so please be patient.  The images are the main problem at present.

Camping In Undara

During the school holidays we decided to see how well the family would cope with a camping trip.  All but one of us are tried and tested so really it was a test only for Harry.  He liked one night of the three, and we suspect that it was too warm for him during the day. Young P was “busting to go camping” and we met up with some chums from school, so she has a wonderful time.

Undara Lava Tubes

What an amazing place!  Contains the remnants of the worlds largest lava flow from a single volcano which erupted 23 cubic kilometers of lava.  The tubes are a little broken up now but are more than 100Km in length.

Some pictures:

A touring Bilby was at the zoo this weekend so we popped along to see it.  The Bilby does not naturally occur in the wet tropics and is endangered in areas where it used to be endemic.  Frank Manthey from Save the Bilby gave a presentation before showing us the little guy. P was very excited and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a Bilby.

Some more family photos

Young Happy Harry has now passed the 6 months mark and has two teeth!   He has celebrated by sinking them into solid food which he seem remarkably fond of.  Below are some pictures of the family.

June update

Some recent photos of the family.  We are all enjoying the “winter” temperatures here in the tropics.

Easter weekend 2011; the wrap

The Easter bunny was kind this year and with deliveries from friends and family there was plenty of chocolate.  On the last day of the holidays we headed off to the Esplande for a morning stroll to beat the heat of the day.  Young P managed to scoot the 1.5 Kms down to the big playground Muddy’s.  This is a really fun, council run, play area with water features and lots of the usual climbing and other activites.   Ardour for play was dampened by a morning rain shower.  We will return though…

Easter weekend

Good Friday has started off well, with a beautiful day.  Pictures show Mum and Harry modelling their new carrying device on the beach during sunrise.  During our al fresco breakfast the male sunbird made and appearance.  Harry also demonstrates that he can do tummy time now, although still not too keen.

Philippa and Dad go camping!

Philippa and Dad headed to the tablelands to have a night away under canvas.  On the way we visited the beautiful Davies Creek.  We camped at Granite Gorge near Mareeba and saw some of the resident rock wallabies.  Tiny little things that are amazingly fast over the rocks.  Some pictures of Harry and Dad, and garden fauna complete the set.

Morning stroll

We have had a good- if active- first week of school holidays.  Aah, there is a flaw in this opening sentence – not quite a week yet!  Here is a quick photo of a the girls on a morning stroll beside the beach.  The guys were either pushing or riding in the pram.  Beautiful cool mornings now – droping down as low as 22C.  Soon be time to break out those winter woolies…  A couple of other recent photos of the kids.
